Santorini is famous for its sunsets, and for good reason. After visiting the island three times and chasing sunsets across the caldera, I've found the absolute best spots for that perfect golden hour moment.

Oia Castle

The most famous sunset spot in Santorini. Arrive at least 2 hours before sunset to secure a good spot. The view of the sun setting behind the ruined castle with the blue-domed churches in the foreground is iconic.

Pros: Most famous view, perfect for photos

Cons: Extremely crowded, requires early arrival

Imerovigli

Often called the "balcony to the Aegean," this village offers stunning sunset views without Oia's crowds. The Skaros Rock provides a dramatic foreground for sunset photos.

Pros: Less crowded, equally beautiful views

Cons: Fewer amenities, requires some walking

Akrotiri Lighthouse

The southwestern tip of the island offers unobstructed sunset views over the caldera. The lighthouse itself makes for a beautiful silhouette against the setting sun.

Pros: Dramatic views, relatively uncrowded

Cons: Remote location, no facilities

Amoudi Bay

Watch the sunset from sea level while enjoying fresh seafood at one of the waterfront tavernas. The reflection of the sunset on the water is magical.
